Crowns and bridges are dental solutions designed to restore damaged or missing teeth. Crowns are full-coverage restorations that are placed over an existing tooth to restore its shape, size, and strength, as opposed to going inside a tooth like a dental filling. Bridges, on the other hand, are used to replace one or more missing teeth by suspending pontic (false) crowns between two functional ones. Bridges can be installed on top of healthy teeth or a pair of dental implants.
Each of our crowns and bridges is crafted from durable yet aesthetically pleasing materials, such as porcelain or zirconia.
Dr. Khoury utilizes advanced 3D scanning technology to ensure precise and comfortable dental restorations.
Teeth with significant decay or damage that cannot be repaired with a filling.
A tooth has undergone a root canal and needs to be reinforced against everyday wear and tear.
A tooth that is severely cracked or fractured.
When a tooth is so misshaped or discolored that it needs to be restored to achieve a more natural-looking appearance.
Missing teeth can be effectively replaced using crowns or bridges for a complete smile.
The process for getting a crown or bridge involves two appointments. During your first appointment, Dr. Khoury will numb and prepare the tooth or teeth that are going to receive the crown(s) or bridge. This involves removing a small amount of enamel to make room for the restoration to completely fit over the tooth. Next, an impression will be taken of your teeth, which will be sent to our dental lab to create the custom crown or bridge according to our specifications. We will also use a shade guide to match the material to your adjacent teeth for optimal aesthetic results. A temporary restoration will be provided until your permanent crown or bridge is ready.
At your second visit about two weeks later, Dr. Khoury will remove the temporary restoration(s) and place the permanent crown or bridge. He will make any necessary adjustments to ensure that the restoration fits comfortably.
Regular brushing and flossing are essential to maintain the durability and health of your crown or bridge. Water flossing is also helpful if traditional flossing is too difficult. Avoid chewing on extremely hard or sticky foods, as this could interfere with the restoration's integrity. Additionally, plan to visit us regularly for professional checkups, where Dr. Khoury can evaluate the health of your supporting teeth and make any necessary recommendations. With proper care, your crown or bridge can last for several years.
